Three JFK Assassination Conferences in November
Sep 22, 2005: This November 18-20, three conferences will be held commemorating the 1963 assassination of President Kennedy. Dallas is again the venue for the COPA and JFK Lancer conferences, and the AARC is also hosting a conference in Washington DC. All three will be held Nov 18-20.
The Committee for an Open Archives (COPA) conference will be held as usual at the Hotel Lawrence (214-761-9090) in Dallas. Registration is $50 for the event or $20 per day. The JFK Lancer conference, November in Dallas 2005, will also be held in Dallas Nov 18-20, at the Crown Plaza Market Center in Dallas (1-214-630-8500). Registration is $150 ($75 for students). The Assassination Archives and Research Center (AARC) and the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law are co-hosting a conference on the same dates, entitled "Cracking the JFK Case: The Emerging Consensus", at the Bethesda Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington DC. Registration is $200 ($100 for students), or $50 per half-day session. Confirmed speakers include Gary Hart, Robert Blakey, Joan Mellen, Gerald McKnight, David Talbot, Peter Dale Scott, John Newman, Jefferson Morley, Richard Whalen, and James Bamford, among others. New book: Breach of Trust
Sep 22, 2005: Prof. Gerald McKnight's new book, Breach of Trust: How the Warren Commission Failed the Nation and Why, has been published by University Press of Kansas. The book is a detailed account of failings of the Warren Commission, with special emphasis on the political need to assemble an official truth regardless of the actual truth. Prof. McKnight is professor emritus of history at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. The book is available from amazon.com.
