Discussion:
Simoncini was the source for information on Ivan G. Alferiev, Pravda Rept, in Mexico City, on September 13, 1960. A dispatch in May, 1966, from Chief of Station (COS), Mexico City, stated that Simoncini had been a "developmental candidate for CP penetration." However, due to a lack of access this agent possibility was dropped as of February 28, 1966. Simoncini received a payment of $150, which consisted of two months salary and termination pay.

A dispatch from Mexico City, in February, 1967, mentioned that the purpose of Gordon Hawlott's operation on January 12, 1967, was a loan to Simoncini. This appeared under the heading "LILISP-X Expenditures as of 1 February 1967".

A cable in August of 1967 from Mexico City stated that "acting on tip from Simoncini that Waldo had been expelled from Mexico, COS raised subject in ambassador's staff meeting 3 Aug." The Releasing Officer was W. C. Curtis, a pseudonym for the COS, Mexico City, Winston M. Scott.
