Both Egerter and her colleagues had a practice of spelling her last name wrong and using her middle name Elizabeth as "Betty" - all this may have been some kind of cover.

p. 4: 5/26/61 routing sheet from SR/CI/P/dl (probably David Lynch or Dottie Lynch) to C/SR/CI/P opened on State Dept Foreign Despatch #806. Note from C/SR/CI/P, Subject - Oswald, Lee Harvey: "FYI. WP (Will Potocki) had originally asked me to pull together all refs on this man. Since then it has been determined that Betty Eggeter is determined and either holds 201-289248 or has it restricted to her." pp. 13-16: Egerter signs off as "CI/SIG/Eggeter" on routing slip stemming from LHO's opposition to undesirable discharge issued by Marines for his alleged "renunciation of citizenship".

Next to the initials for WCB - William C. Bright - at 10/3/62 - several months after Oswald's return to Texas in June 1962, there is a note from "DL" - probably David Lynch or Dottle Lynch - at DBA 20883 stating "(Illegible) Betty Eggeter CI/SIG has full file." (This file was initially opened on 8/30/62 - at the time of John Fain's FBI memo on Oswald.)
