A memo in February of 1963 stated that Cartwright used the alias of Clarence when working with Manuel Artime (AMBIDDY-1).

A cable on May 20, 1961, stated that Cecil Cartwright would join AMPUG-1 (Alfredo Izaguirre Revoi) prior to May 22nd to act as his escort officer.

11/08/60: Memo for the record from John D. Peters: "1. On 5 November at 1130 hours, AMRUNG-1 (Rogelio Gonzalez y Corso) and Windecker were met at the Washington Airport by undersigned...3. At approximately 1535 hours, (REDACTION) put in his appearance at the room and was introduced to AMRUNG-1 as Mr. Rodrick. Prior to this meeting, AMRUNG-1 was told that Mr. Rodrick was the coordinator for operations and would like to discuss some of the more specific aspects with him, prior to his return to Cuba. Cecil Cartwright, who had escorted AMRUNG-1 to Washington, asked to sit in on this meeting along with Peters and (REDACTION) as he felt that MASH should be fully informed on whatever operational matters were discussed with AMRUNG-1 for more effective future coordination between Headquarters and MASH..."

12/23/60: Cable from Havana to Director: ACTION: C/BELL 13 (Mr. Droller, WH Div notified 1600 23 Dec): JMZIP RYBAT (scored out): "1. On 23 Dec Robert M. Geddes (who works with AMPAN-22) contacted CO after failure to meet Ralph Diaz Hanscom and asked CO deliver special airdrop map to Miami for 'Clarence.' 2. Geddes explained that he had talked with 'Clarence' in Miami and was told earlier drop map brought by Villalon is not suitable. New map is in India ink prepared by engineer (REDACTION) public works in Cienfuegos. (REDACTION) passed map to (REDACTION) who gave to Geddes. Geddes laid air drop special for Limas, Ramirez, Montiel, and portion for Duque. Geddes said preliminary drop signals would consist one red light, done white light, one red light about 15 ft distance apart. Clockwise movement of lights indicate prepared to receive. Group requesting arms and ammunition for 400 men plus 100 pistols. Also extra ammo for those already in place. 3. Map being sent WAVE by courier arriving 24 Dec. 4. Geddes said that he would contact (REDACTION) FR 3-1982) on arrival since (REDACTION) had direct contact with 'Clarence.' Handwritten note: Cruz called somebody called Fe Mas (?) a security risk.

01/11/61: Memo from Chief, WHD to Director of Personnel: Subject: Additional Compensation in Lieu of Overtime Payment: Cecil J. Cartwright's name was fourth from bottom of the list. His Employee Serial Number was 57840, his title was Ops Officer and his salary was $9,215.

05/20/61: Cable from JMWAVE to BELL: NO NIACT: JMZIP: REF: WAVE 2676 (IN 0805): "1. AMPUG-1 (Alfredo Izaguirre Revoi) will arrive HQs area via EAL flight 852 night 19 May. Will attempt register Mayflower Hotel in true name. After settled will advise WAVE his location. Mr. Cecil Cartwright will join him prior to morning 22 May to act as escort officer..."

He asked the whereabouts of his barracks bag and I told him that when I left Miami prior to the invasion it had been in the custody of 'Clarence' (Cecil Cartwright). I recommended that Artime pursue the inquiry through his official Miami area contact..."
