Comments:
Chief of the Mexico Branch in 1963. "Report on Oswald from John Scelso, C/WH/3, to James Angleton, C/CI, 12/24/63." Oswald referred to as GPFLOOR case. Scelso wrote note to (?) Dottie (?), dated 7 July 1967. Compare with 5 July 1967 note from Lund and reference to 7 July 1967. Scelso is probably a cryptonym -- perhaps for Alan White. Scelso is an attorney (Scelso's May 16, 1978, testimony to HSCA, p. 1-3; was in CIA 23 years, testimony p. 1-4; at time of assassination, he was chief of a branch responsible for operations in Mexico and Central America, down to and including Panama, p. 1-4; Scelso thought branch was called WH-3, p. 1-5; was relieved of responsibility for assassination investigation in early 1964, p. 1-10) David Atlee Phillips married a relative of John Scelso. (Scelso's testimony to HSCA on May 16, 1978, p. 1-21.) Scelso was cryptonym of John M. Whitten.
