Shot down over Cuba in 1968 and imprisoned 11 years. Released with Lawrence Lunt. Denied he had been shot down by Cubans. Claimed he had attempted to parachute onto a Cuban missile base "for journalistic reasons." He said the CIA had indicated interest in his findings.
