DOB: 3/3/1906. POB: Boston, Mass. Married Edith Frisch. Former head of Latin American division for OSS. In 1952, worked for Soviet espionage agent Jacob Golos. Dismissed from teaching post at Boston Univ. in 1954 after J. Edgar Hoover told a congressional committee Halperin was a Communist agent while in OSS. Moved to Mexico in 1958. Defected to Moscow in October 1958 where he taught at Academy of Science. In 1972, he was teaching at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. DOD: February 10, 1995, at age 88. Survived by son Dr. David Halperin, Chiapas, Mexico, and daughter, Judith Gamoran, of Seattle; brother: Theodore Halperin of Boston.
