Comments:

A former military officer. One of original faculty at M.I.T.'s Dept. of Political Science. Bloomfield initiated research in arms control. As Director of M.I.T.'s Center for International Studies, he designed and carried out CONEX, a program to control local conflict in Africa. CONEX was developed by the RAND Corp. and the Joint War Games Agency of the Dept. of Defense.
