1993.08.11.15:08:46:280014: NEW YORK DAILY NEWS ARTICLE "EX-SPY SAYS SHE DROVE TO DALLAS WITH OSWA
9/20/77 Paul Meskil's NY Daily News article about Marita Lorenz's claim that she accompanied Oswald and an assassin squad to Dallas a few days before 11/22/63. She claimed that they were all members of Operation 40, and that she was an informant to the CIA and the FBI. She said they included Pedro Diaz Lanz, Orlando Bosch, Frank Sturgis and two Cuban brothers whose names she did know (probably a claim that she knew the Novo brothers). Sturgis was contacted, and repeated his claim that he was in Miami that day.
9/28/77, memo from Kingston to Director, slugline WNINTEL INTEL REAM: A Cuban official visiting Jamaica provided a ZRWAHOO report - named Project SLEEPER - it was about a claim by Enrique Montero, the Minister Counsellor of the Cuban embassy in Kingston, Jamaica, at an address to the Communist Party of Cuba officials stationed in Jamaica. Montero was acting in the place of the Cuban ambassador to Jamaica. During his address, he stated that "Cuban exiles such as FNU Diaz Lanz and others had been involved in the assassination of President Kennedy. Montero did not elaborate."
9/29/77 memo signed by George Lauder (prepared by Horace Speed aka Stanley Figolak) to SA/ADDO Benson Grayson re SLHORIZON-1 report: "A ZRWAHOO intelligence report mentioned that the Minister-Counsellor...said, among other things, that Cuban exiles such as FNU Diaz Lanz and others had been involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy...Latin American Division believes that the basis for the MC's statement was, probably, an article which appeared in the New York Daily News on September 20, 1977...we know of no information in Agency files to substantiate (Lorenz's) statement. There have been various articles in the past alleging that Lorenz was a CIA agent. There is no official file on Ms. Lorenz, nor is there any information indicating that she was an agent or employee of this Agency."
11/11/77 memo by Latin American chief Raymond Warren to SA/ADDO: "...there is no indication that either (Pedro Diaz Lanz/QDBIAS or Marcos Diaz Lanz/QDCHAR) were ever considered Agency assets...Kingston Station queried source for further information...The source said that the MC referred to the Kennedy assassination during a pep talk to party members to maintain good security...although the MC did not identify the source of his information, the Kingston Station source had the impression that the information might have been included in a cable from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs..." - - - For unredacted version: https://www.archives.gov/files/research/jfk/releases/2021/docid-32406869.pdf
