104-10092-10089: STATUS REPORT FOR MAY AND JUNE 1963

May-June 1963 status report: This program supported a national Catholic student group that was anticommunist; the president's group met biweekly with a station officer. Two copies of the LIEVICT report went to the KUWOLF case officer. The PRI youth group reached LIEVICT by contacting KMLASKING, and asked LIEVICT to affiliate with PRI. The station thought the maneuver was done to weaken ties between KMLASKING and LIEVICT.

10/16/63, MEXI 6543: "(Government of Mexico) youth groups quoted Mexi Daily 12 October asking KMLASKING (World Assembly of Youth) oust LIEVICT, charging LIEVICT reps abroad called (Government of Mexico) "Tyranny with Commie Tendencies"...LIQUIFER suspects (Luis Felipe) Mejia put up job. Request HQS clarify situation with KMLASKING leaders and inform station ASAP."

10/17/63, HMMA-22310 ref MEXI-6543, Chief of Station, Mexico City to Chief, WH, slugline is "(KMLASKING/World Assembly of Youth) LIEVICT - PRI Youth Group Charge": The PRI youth group is issuing some kind of attack on LIEVICT. "In the past, IDEN B has visited Mexico on (KMLASKING/World Assembly of Youth) business without making contact with LIEVICT but meeting leaders of (ZRAFRAID) and IDEN C." Unknown the definition of ZRAFRAID at this time. 10/21/63 memo re July-August 1963 LIEVICT status report: More than 60 artists exhibited their works at the LIEVICT-sponsored show in Mexico City. 1000 copies of the LIEVICT report were distributed. LIQUIFIER, the LIEVICT president, wanted to resign, but he was convinced to remain until the ZRAFRAID biennial meeting in September. (Unknown what ZRAFRAID was.) 11/19/63 memo (HMMW 12137) from Chief, KUWOLF to Chief of Station, Mexico City re WSACROBAT/ZRAFRAID Literacy Seminar: During the 10th FJHEARSAY (COSEC - the Coordinating Secretariat of the National Union of Students) in Quebec in June 1962, LIQUIFIER-7 (the head of the ZRAFRAID delegation) called for a national seminar on literacy to be approved by FJHEARSAY. HBEPITOME case officers supported it, as it would increase national and international prestige of ZRAFRAID. Approval was obtained. WSACROBAT to implement. Seminar set for Dec 12-22. 11/27/63, MEXI-7102: Seminar "set for January at earliest by agreement WSACROBAT LIQUIFIERS 7 and 8." New ZRAFRAID leadership is not ready for rapid coordination for this event. Freimanis' recommendations to WSACROBAT should be after consult with Station.

104-10010-10019: EDITORIAL IN LEAD EDITORIAL COLUMN OF MEXICO CITY DAILY "EXCELSIOR" RE GARRISON.

9/13/67 cable from "Howlett" to Director, slugline MHORDER: "Following editorial written by LIQUIFIER in lead editorial column of Mexico City prestige daily 'Excelsior' re Garrison interview in Playboy: TITLE: Versions by Garrison: TEXT: It is certain that the investigations by New Orleans District Attorney Garrison concerning the magnicide of John F. Kennedy have led to sensationalism but have not cleared up the infinity of obscure areas which exist in the official version of the tragedy in Dallas...LIQUIFIER wrote above editorial solely with aim of discrediting Garrison. Since most Mexicans do not believe in Warren Report LIQUIFIER had to express normal Mexican doubt about assassination of President Kennedy."
