104-10260-10225: MEMO: CONVERSATION OF FRANK FIORINI CONCERNING ALLEGED PAST AND FUTURE PLANS OF KUBARK

1/3/61 interview with Frank Fiorini with his colleague Alan McDonald - both of them are presently working with Pedro Diaz Lanz. The Customs agent writing the memo relies on Lee Stafford at the Miami FBI office, who states "he had determined that Fiorini had no connection with any government agency".

1993.08.05.10:15:50:750052: VARIOUS MATERIALS ON FRANK STURGIS AKA FRANK FIORINI - - 10 JANUARY 19

Re 1961-1970: In 1976, Sturgis wrote a "Chronology of Residences and Employments". For the period of 1961-1970 he wrote: "Bay of Pigs. CIA control officer Sam Jenis." Sam Jenis is an alias for AMOT-2/Joaquin Sanjenis, chief of the AMOTs. Also see 11/19/63, 104-10221-10112, p. 2, a note from DDP Richard Helms to FBI liaison Sam Papich, recounting that Frank lost his suitcase and a person of unknown reliability returned the briefcase and its contents to the CIA. Included therein was Sturgis' address book, maps, documents, and a list of weapons from Minuteman activist Rich Lauchli and his company LOXCO, as well as Lauchli's business card (see p. 17). He names his code names as "Federini, Barbarosa, Samson", as well as a number of his aliases - curiously he does not mention Frank Attila or Fred Attila.

2/9/73 memo by DCI James Schlesinger: "In this connection (Note: re a phone call with John Dean this evening) he mentioned that there is a hot story being passed around in the press, primarily instigated by Seymour Hersh of the New York Times. The story suggests that Sturgis, who sometimes goes by the code name Federini, was the individual responsible for the burglarizing of the Chilean Embassy in Washington...shortly thereafter, I discussed these matters with Bill Colby, who indicated that Sturgis has not been on the payroll for a number of years and that whatever the allegations about the Chilean Embassy, the Agency has no connection at all..."

1993.08.09.17:20:39:560007: CIA FILE ON WILLIAM PAWLEY, WILLIAM SEYMOUR, FRANK STURGIS, AND OPERAT

7/20/76 memorandum for the record by DC/SAG Jerry Brown: Brown refers to the reference in the Schlesinger memo above - "Colby stated 'Sturgis has not been on the payroll for a number of years'. It was pointed out to OGC that this statement is in direct conflict with prior Agency public releases concerning Sturgis to the effect that he has never been connected to the Agency in any way."
