Arturo Maria Jesus Varona Alonso, brother of AMCONCERT-1 (Francisco Wilfredo Varona Alonso). AMTURVY-1 was described as "a minor Cuban Government official and member of the militia who travels frequently in western Cuba." Also known as Cuquito.

In the cable on December 10, 1963, there was a reference to Enrique Vincente Socarras. Was this a relation of Carlos Prio Socarras?

He worked with the AMRIPE network, and was known as Cuqito: See, e.g. the cryptonym analysis for AMRIPE-4.

04/04/62: Dispatch from COS, JMWAVE to Chief, Task Force W: "1. The following is all of the information available at JMWAVE concerning cached radio sets in Cuba: a. AMCONCERT-1 cached a radio believed to be an RS-1, on the farm of Pablo Yabre near the town of Colon, Province of Matanzas. AMCONCERT-1 told his brother AMTURVY-1, who also knows Yabre, of the existence of this cache. AMTURVY-1 has been notified through AMWREN-1 to contact and deliver the radio to AMGLEN-9. AMGLEN-9, inactive W/T operator, is being contacted through AMRIPE-1 via SW. 2. Jose Raul Arango Cidre, a contact of AMOT-34, arrived in the JMWAVE area from Cuba o/a 22 December 1961. Arango told Henry J. Sloman on 9 January 1962 that he had placed AMOT-34 in contact with a Mr. Lorena who knows where four radio sets are cached in Cuba. AMOT-34 reported in various SW messages that he is attempting to locate a radio to which supposedly Mr. Lorena has access. Sufficient information is not available to the Station to determine whether or nor the above radio sets are part of a previous KUBARK (CIA) cache..."

Today received the magnum pistols but no bullets. Also received the radios. Advise the distance over which you can hear them. Send the filters for pistols soon. AMTURVY-1."

Will try to send him money anyway for the future. Bullets will arrive soon. Filters too. Advise if you received pouch nr. One zero through AMGLEN-9. Russian ship Krasnoye Znamya will arrive soon Habana. Send info on cargo and destination and descriptions of Russian on board who disembark. Advise if you know someone who owns a boat near Bahia Honda."

Within a few days advise if Komar class boats now carry live rockets. Also if P-6 class boats carry live depth charges and live torpedoes. What type fuel do they use. If anything added to the fuel for more power. Made a sketch in SW on side and top views showing the locating of fuel tanks and motors. If he able, have AMTURVY-9 loan you a maintenance manual for photographing, Luis Gonzalez. The Cuban fishing boats San Ignacio, Marta Elena and the Los Angeles have been carrying arms to Latin America. PLS determine if these boats have radio communications. Today we sent 200 dollars to Jorge (REDACTION) in Canada. PLS forward full bio data on Luis Gonzalez and Enrique Vicente Socarras so we can check the files here."
