The third to last document shows that 201-328388 is AMSTET-1. The second to last document shows that 201-328388 is Antonio Garcia Lara. Previous documents also show that Nico Garcia is 201-328388. No current evidence of any link between Antonio Garcia and Manolo Garcia.

Circa 1962: "The Station's best chance of getting worthwhile information from the Embassy in the near future seems to be from AMSTET-1, who works in the same section that AMSTOKE-1 did formerly. While assessments of AMSTET-1 have not yet indicated that a proper pitch can be made to him, he is for all practical purposes already furnishing much information of value to LIMASK-1, a veteran KUBARK agent who is in intimate contact with him."

MEXI 1108, 6/18/62, The background to AMROD and the role of Sinobas is that AMSTET-1 reported in June 1962 that Cuenca was the chief of G-2 in Mexico and that Manuel Vega Perez was his number two in G-2. "Both lately in charge (to) keep AMSTOKE-1 under surveillance and AMSTOKE-1 escaped."

Armona highly intellectual has no understanding (of) commercial activities...AM-1 said his opinion that Manuel Vega Perez (AMPOON-1) is number two man G-2 Mexi."

7/1/64: "AMSTET-1 called LANGOSCH (C/WH/SA/CI)...saying now has constant companion...Celia Sanchez had called (Cuban ambassador to Mexico) Hernandez Armas this morning to discuss Juanita Castro revelations, and that certain cases in the Embassy should be studied. Including AMSTET."

8/64: AMMUG-1 identifies Jose Antonio Garcia Lara as a DGI (Cuban intelligence) officer (also known as G-2) working as a commercial attache at the Cuban embassy in Mexico City. 201-328388. He belonged to the Juventad Autentico. He arrived in Mexico with specific instructions from Osmani Cienfuegos to recruit Mexican technicians and to provide them with necessary funds. "It seems probable that this is only a guise and that the men are being taken to Cuba solely to be trained as agitators." He was also to study the purchase of automobile parts with American money - this could be a reference to the case of the Dallas Cuban.
