Discussion:
A cable from JMWAVE in July, 1966, cited AMPOLISH-1's 201 number as 201-285159. A cable from Paris in November, 1962, cited the 201 number of Victor Espinosa Hernandez (AMHINT-24) at the bottom right hand side of the cable, which is 201-285147 (for confirmation see memo in July, 1965). This is very close to AMPOLISH-1's 201 number.

A memo in April, 1977, stated that Espinosa was given a POA on 18 October 1960, and terminated as a "malcontent" in March, 1961. It is therefore likely that AMPOLISH-1 was given a 201 number around about the same period as Victor Espinosa, perhaps as early as October, 1960.

A dispatch in December, 1966, stated that it was expected that AMPOLISH-1 would take over from AMASK-1 in the AMKNOT (program to assist Cuban merchant mariners who have defected from their service) project. AMPOLISH-1 was employed at a local automobile dealers at the time.

A cable in August, 1967, mentioned that AMPOLISH-1 was also KICOBALT-1 as well, which would mean he was a Bolivian agent or asset of the CIA at the time of the cable.

According to AMSTALK-1's (Miguel Angel Diaz Isalgue) Damage Report in March of 1968, AMPOLISH-1 by alias was among the indigenous agent personnel exposed.

AMPOLISH-1 is presently employed by a local automobile dealer and is able to take the necessary time off to handle the AMKNOT matters. We see three advantages to this development: (1) The Station will be spared a possible disposal situation when AMKNOT is closed (it has been made clear to AMPOLISH-1 that this is a temporary assignment that at the most will last for a few months), (2) We have offered AMPOLISH-1 $200.00 per month versus $390.00 for AMASK-1, and (3) AMASK-1 should be in excellent position to offer at least temporary employment in the shoe factory to mariners to come..." - - - Page 3: "D.
