6/1/60 cable from Havana to Director: "Station pouching copies of letter from MRR to QDCOVE/Ricardo Lorie and AMBIDDY/Manuel Artime to HQS. Originals to be handcarried to Miami 5 June by Gebaide. Letter says: QDCOVE and AMBIDDY must coordinate all important plans and agreements with Local National Directorate before committing MRR. MRR proposes that in mass exfiltration all groups in Groupo Bander contribute number of men as proof they are able to overthrow (Government of Cuba). MRR not in contact with Beaton but has contacts with Escambrays groups led by Plinio Prieto and Pedro Hernandez Rodriguez...Also pouching copy MRR report giving breakdown strength in Santiago-Gitmo area with names (of) leaders (in) each place. Numbers listed total 2100 men."

104-10168-10099: CABLE: MASH WOULD APPRECIATE RESULTS DEBRIEFING AMPANIC-5 CONCERNING HIS POSITION VIS A VIS FRD AND BRIEFING RE COORDINATION HIS ACTIVITIES WITH LATTER'S ETC

8/19/60 cable from MASH to Director: "MASH would appreciate debriefing AMPANIC-5 concerning his position vis-a-vis FRD and briefing re coordination his activities with latter's (FRD), etc. Reason for query Enzel in discussion with AMPANIC-6, who recently arrived from Mexico, concerning possible utilization advised he and brother among early organizers in Cuba of insurrectional OA, and an offshoot AMHAWK group...AMPANIC-5 made contact for HAVA station and AMPANIC-6 came to (the US) to recruit support for movement here. AMPANIC-6 subsequently joined Alianza whose members either expelled or rejected FRD. AMPANIC-6 apparently loyal to to Alianza group exiles realizing they serious competition (to) FRD. AMPANIC-6 admits limitations but is willing to cooperate either in (US) or Cuba...as AMPANIC-6 phrased it 'is AMPANIC-5 still working under old insurrectional OA plans?'"

104-10103-10125: MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD:PRELIMINARY DEBRIEFING REPORT ON ACTIVITIES IN CUBA

August-September 1960, preliminary debriefing on the activities of AMPANIC-7 in Cuba: AMPANIC-7 felt he had spread himself too thin and held individual meetings with "AMPANIC-5, Dr. Lino Fernandez and AMRUNG-1 with a view to establishing some degree of rapport and coordination of activities in the area. In this connection, A-7 claims he turned over a number of his assets over to AMPANIC-5, prior to his movement to the ESCAMBRAY, where he was subsequently picked up by G-2."

9/24/60 cable from Director to Havana: "Chibas called Bender (aka Gerard Droller) noon 24 Sept requesting drop to (Manuel) Ray be postponed indefinitely. Stated drop scheduled 25 Sept. Chibas said that (Gernonimo) Estevez had received in (illegible) earlier this morning news from Cuba that contact with Sinesio Walsh group not yet made and thus arrangements for reception (illegible) not completed. HQS wonders whether this not (a) political Ray maneuver designed (to) wrestle away from AMPANIC-5 contact over equipment..."

104-10220-10426: CABLE: HQS CONCURS IN ADVANTAGE LOCATING FIALLO GONZALEZ

09/27/60, Cable from Director to Havana (Orig: Bernard R. Reichardt, Unit: WH/Unintelligible): "1. HQs concurs in advantage locating Fiallo Gonzalez in Escambray provided can be assured he work compatibly with AMPANIC-5 (Marginalia - "Prieto") and others in consolidating in verse political/military units under FRD label. If HAVA considers this realistic and Fiallo willing accept support requested for family authorized..."

104-10102-10090: BRAND CONTACT REPORT

September-October 1960: "...One day Brand/AMPANIC-7 got word that there was going to be a meeting at Plinio's safe...Brand sent word saying he saw no reason why he had to go to that meeting, but Plinio insisted on Brand's attendance. Brand went to the meeting. There he saw Plinio, Efren Rodriguez, Jorge Espino, Francisco Santiago, Juan Mendez and Joe. Plans were set to coordinate the OA and the Front's efforts to help Plinio in the mountains...through Emilio Rodriguez, Brand met a man named Alfredo Izaguirre Rivas/AMPUG-1. Izaguirre told Brand he had been trained in sabotage and that he had around 200 men organized in the City and Province of Havana...(at p. 9)...the newspapers published some pictures of Plinio Prieto after capture near El Escambray...The day before the capture...the 11th of October, Emilio Rodriguez came to see Brand...After Plinio's execution, morale came to an all time low."

11/04/60, Cable from Havana to Director: "1. Part of command channel para 1 Ref as FOLL: (REDACTION) AMIRE-1 alias; (REDACTION) coordination (REDACTION) and (REDACTION)- AMPAN-1 alias). 2. AMPAN-1 reported Camacho and Alberto Garcia were introduced to AMPANIC-5 and AMPAN-1 by (REDACTION). Subsequently (REDACTION) notified AMPAN-1 that Camacho and Garcia arrested by G-2, confessed, and released from purpose infiltrate group. By that time however, AMPANIC-5 had already gone to Escambray and AMPAN-1 had severed contact with Camacho. (REDACTION) went into hiding and sought asylum. AMPAN-1 believes Camacho not aware his true identity. AMIRE-1 serves as AMPAN-1 (REDACTION) to Station. Filed 032235Z."

104-10169-10271: CABLE: AMYUMS REPORTED GOC PICKED UP FOLL: 20 PISTOLS, 6 SUBMARINE GUNS AND ONE BAZOOKA.

11/15/60, Cable from Havana to Director: Slugline JMNET JMCLEAR: "1. AMYUMS reported GOC picked up FOLL: 20 pistols, 6 submachine guns and one bazooka. Surmise above may have been contents one bundle which fell on Trinidad highway. 2. Remainder cargo believed in hands anti-Castro forces. Said (FNU) Pacheco, leader UNIDEN group, recovered sizable quantity which he divided with (FNU) Mesa who also has small independent group. Latter not to be confused with (REDACTION) who brother of guide used in AMPANIC-5 op. 3. Despite abortive drop AMYUMS feel had good morale effect on Escambray fighters who see genuine effort being made support them. Estimate present anti-Castro element Escambray numbers 2000 men. AMYUMS also reported two successful drops to Evelio Duque forces (3 and 11 Nov) by AMHAWK using Cessna aircraft. Each drop consisted 60 submachine guns. Can HQs confirm for info HAVA only if such drops actually made...C/S Comment: *Headquarters has reliable information that at least half of bundles dropped on 6 November picked up by GOC."

03/09/61, Cable from WAVE to BELL (Handwritten note at top of page: (Unintelligible) of file AMIRE-1 201 : "1. Statements made by (REDACTION) to MEXI accurate. Olien handled (REDACTION) and (REDACTION) who IDEN A. (REDACTION) mentioned poss IDEN B; pseudo (REDACTION) AKA (REDACTION) IDEN C; (REDACTION) IDEN D. All known to have been in contact with each other at one time or another. 2. WAVE has no interest SUBJ. However, WAVE suggests if SUBJ desires travel WAVE join AMIRON military training program will have AMOTS assist him."

104-10164-10324: DISPATCH: DR. ORLANDO BOSCH AVILA

The following information was received through BINAURAL-1 from AMBASAL-1 on 11 September 1962: "(Orlando Bosch/AMDITTO-23) began his activities in Santa Clara, the capital of Las Villas Province, where he was born. He is an M.D. He was a friend of Plinio Prieto, the Autentico Party leader who was shot at Las Campanas for opposition to Castro."
