3/4/60 cable from CIA officer Wilmer Aretz to Chief, WH, Attention Anthony Ponchay: The AMPALM group list provided here identifies AMPALM-1 as "Oscar Echevarria y Salvat, Ministry of Commerce." The chart on the following page identifies him as the head of "propaganda and student action". On the page after that, he is at the top of the flowchart for MDC, ranking above AMPALM-2.

6/14/60 cable: Manuel Salvat is identified as the first cousin of AMPALM-1. Salvat was later known as AMING-4 and AMHINT-2. In view of MRR failure to exfiltrate from Cuba both Salvat and Alberto Muller plan to seek asylum in the US.
