Cryptonym: AMNORM
A cable from Santiago de Cuba on December 2, 1960, stated that "AMNORM-1's people through Ramon Corona already in contact with Sori Marin." In addition, the Chief of Station (COS) comment stated "HQs in radio contact AMNORM-2 using SIGPLAN LEXTUS." Furthermore, a cable on April 21, 1961, stated that the "Santa Anna with AMNORMs are diverted to JMFROG (CIA base in Puerto Rico)."
Two cables in June of 1961 referred to "Nino Diaz people." Moreover, a memo in November, 1961, mentioned three Spanish volunteers who had been part of Nino Diaz's expedition in April of 1961. They were Miguel Otegui Alvarez, Patricio Artigas Escozara, and Jose Ramon Gonzalez Regueiro. The memo stated that "it is recommended that the paramilitary contact with Nino Diaz inquire of Diaz about these three with a view to utilizing them for clandestine operations if this is possible."

12/02/60: Cable from Santiago de Cuba to Director: JMNET: REF: DIR 13910 (OUT 97607): "FYI: AMNORM-1's (Higino Diaz, aka Nino Diaz) people through Ramon Corona already in contact with Sori Marin. 28 Nov Corona said Marin and his provincial leaders had been relieved of their govt jobs and Marin now HAVA. Corona went HAVA 30 Nov to try see Marin." CS Comment: HQs in radio contact AMNORM-2 using SIGPLAN LEXTUS."

AMBUD-1 (Jose Miro Cardona) and overt contacts have not completed discussions organizational and budget problems as WAVE aware. 2. HQs has no obligation or desire establish precedent of paying bonuses or dependency allotments any Nino Diaz people which would inevitably stimulate requests for same for all of Nino Diaz people plus similar AMBUD-1 requests for funds for other matters. 3. Believe above will assist WAVE as guidance in present uncertain situation where we not in position cut off contact with political groups but not able offer additional support to that already committed. It is recommended that the paramilitary contact with Nino Diaz inquire of Diaz about these three with a view to utilizing them for clandestine operations if this is possible. 3. No other solution appears to be indicated."
