Definition:
A CIA document in February of 1978 stated that AMING-1 was Abel Mestre, who was also assigned the cryptonym of AMCORE-1.
Status:
Documented
Discussion:
An October of 1965 cable and Field Information Report described AMING-1 as "a leading émigré professional personality with diversified contacts among the Cuban political émigré community. Source has been an infrequent reporter, and it is believed that he tends to withhold information. Source and Orlando Bosch Avila have been enemies for many years."

According to a Miami FBI report in November of 1965, on MIRR, "MM T-4 stated that Bosch and (Marcelino) Garcia (note: Evelio Duque Miyar) expressed their dislike for Abel Mestre Espinosa, President of AREC, saying that they believed he had 'sold out' to the United States government."

A cable in February of 1964 stated that the "decision to release AMCORE-2 (Luis Ernesto Conte Aguero) made by AMING-1 although AMING-1 advised HQS prior to dismissal to advise if any HQS objection. HQS had no objection."
