CIA operative, Victor Suchara, Foreign Intelligence (FI), attached a report on September 24, 1962. The source was Jose Angel Lozano y Lozano. The comment stated that "subject provided only limited information on the reported death of Arnoldo Martinez as reported below." A letter on November 28, 1962, mentioned "Angel (AMHINT-58 infiltration)."

9/24/62 report from Suchara (FI) to IS Reports: "Attached report from Jose Angel Lozano y Lozano: Comment: Subject provided only limited information on the reported death of Arnoldo Martinez as reported below. 1. Source said the government had declared Arnoldo Martinez dead on three separate occasions. a. In October 1961, Martinez was reported killed at a finca near the town of Jovellanos; b. Sometime around Christmas 1961 the government reported Martinez death at a finca near the town of Navajas in the district of Pedro Betancourt; c. During the latter part of July 1962 Martinez was reported killed in Matanzas, near the finca at Arco Iris, in the Bolondron district. 2. Sometime in September, prior to source's departure from Cuba, source heard from a completely trustworthy source (unidentified) that Martinez had visited the farm of a friend seeking arms and money. (Source would not name the family or the location of farm). Source was certain that Martinez is alive. 3. On page 2 of the Spanish report, paragraph 1 on Matanzas, source discussed an attack which had taken place against the militia in the zone of Cooperativas Carboneras. This attack, according to source, took place at night on the 28th or 29th of March 1962 at a place called Jaguey Grande. The attack lasted a few hours. FYI: Source is Jose Angel Lozano y Lozano - National Coord. for GW and civil resistance. - Came out with AMHINT-53 (Luis Fernandez-Rocha) on 22 Sept. Source has travelled from Pinar del Rio to Oriente and back just prior to exfiltration. 11/15/62 memo by Nestor Sanchez on Helms' discussion with AMHINT-53/Luis Fernandez Rocha and Jose Maria Lasa. Rocha told Helms that Angel Lozano was their source for the Soviet missiles in Cuba and had "pinpointed the locations with his Agency contacts in Miami." Helms then had Col. Albert Davies and William Tidwell go over the information with Rocha and Lasa.
