01/21/63: Memorandum for office: Subject: Jose Manuel Gutierrez, possible new member of the Revolutionary Council...Subject: Procurement of release of Miguel Garcia Armengol: "Dr. Miro also said that Fatty Garcia had come to him today and said that he understood that the CIA is trying to get ten political prisoners released who have been infiltrated. His son was infiltrated by the DRE and he would like to have him considered. His name is Miguel Garcia Armengol. Fatty said to Dr. Miro that he did not like to bring up a personal request of this sort but that if it were true that CIA was working to bring about the release of 10 prisoners who had been infiltrated by that organization he would like to see the number raised to 11 and have his son included, as his son had been infiltrated by DRE and had been captured. He was sentenced to death and this sentence then was reduced to 30 years imprisonment. Dr. Miro said he would make known his request thru contacts available. Any comment I can give Dr. Miro on this?" Handwritten note: "PM says might (?) have anything planned along these lines?"
