Cryptonym: AMHINT-26
In an FBI report in August of 1963 Koch stated he rented the vehicle used by Carlos Hernandez to transport dynamite and bombs from Miami to the McLaney residence. The FBI raided McLaney's residence on July 31, 1963.
An AMWORLD memo from Richard B. Beal on December 24, 1963, stated that AMJAVA-4 (Rafael Quintero) was asked about seven ex-DRE members. John Koch was among the four members who were now in the MRR. In addition, AMJAVA-4 promised biographic information on these persons.

9/6/61 request for approval or investigative action from Howard Gossage, WH/4. The subject line says "John Koch Gene"; the cryptonym is given as "AMHINT-26"... "Subject will be used by PA/PROP in across the board training for an infiltration operation." His case officer was Margaret Forsythe (note: probably the "Maggie" seen in a number of documents from that era).

Was active in the DRE underground during 1961 before coming to Miami as an exile student. Documented by WAVE as "Jose R. Alsina Vazquez during October 1961. In November 1961, Harold R. Noemayr (Ross Crozier) trained him for clandestine operations in Cuba.

8/28/62 PRQ I on Koch sent from Ted Shackley to Bill Harvey. Koch was an activist in a Catholic University group - arrested once protesting Soviet diplomat Andrei Mikoyan, twice against Castro and Communism - these arrests appeared to be in Cuba.
