AMHAWK-2 sends a message to Havana station to notify AMHAWK-1 (Antonio Varona) regarding the arrival of Lomberto Rodriguez.
7/20/60: On 19 July Dr. Mario del Canal Ferrer (code name Patricio) who described himself as principal rep and coordinator for AMHAWK contacted political officer John Topping and indicated he would like discreet contacts with the Embassy since contacts now established through AMHAWK-2 (Ralph) and Juan Menendez Tellez were not sufficient. Station disturbed that indiscreet approach made to Embassy indicating that covert channel existed to AMHAWK. Asks if AMHAWK-2 is to be eliminated. See a related 7/20/60 cable with messages to Ralph and Patricio in Spanish: 1994.04.21.11:27:43:060005 Reel 6, Folder D - MANUEL ANTONIO DE VARONA - pp. 326-329. These identities for Ralph and Patricio affirmed in 104-10168-10107 and 104-10168-10109 in mid-August 1960 - no indication that Ralph is to be "eliminated".
