Discussion:
A cable on November 21, 1963, mentioned that AMCUT-1 reported that "special weapons students assigned to missile bases; radar capabilities and artillery at disposal of Cuban forces."

A cable on December 2, 1963, stated that AMCUT-1 reported that "Cubans who attempted land in Cuba from vessel Rex were observed by radar prior landing attempt. 7 MIG-15's which took part in interception landing party arrived at San Julian air base on morning of incident."

A cable on December 5, 1963, had a slugline of AMCUT-1, AMCOVE-1 (Alejandra Sanchez), and AMGLOSSY (Comandos Mambises). The cable stated that AMCUT-1 had obtained information from Lidia Torres from Moises Vega. According to the cable, Moises Vega was then on temporary duty at Almendares air force base, and worked with radars. Vega claimed that the GOC (Government of Cuba) knew of AMGLOSSY-5's mission one month before the attempt was made. Because of this Cuban military forces were on alert and had practised daily. Vega also said that the vessel Rex was observed by "water radar." The cable concluded that Vega's information appeared to be a "mixture truths and bragging," with the information on the color radar screen and "water radar" appearing to be in the latter category. However, it deemed that the section on prior GOC knowledge of the AMGLOSSY-5 infiltration to be valid.
