A CIA Report Cover Sheet in August 1965 stated that "Field Comment #2 was based on information that AMYUM-14 (probably Laureano Batista Falla) submitted; he received it directly from AMCRUMP-7 (now terminated)." Field Comment 2 noted that another source had "reported that, according to Angel M. Hernandez Rojo, the crew of the VICKY I first became aware that they were being pursued when they were about 23 miles from Key West on the night of 26 July." Another report, on 06/24/65, stated "that Hernandez Rojo had been appointed chief of the military sector and was to assume his responsibilities immediately." Therefore, this document made it clear that Angel Hernandez Rojo was AMCRUMP-7.

Eduardo Diaz Lanz told the FBI in January 1964 that shortly after the assassination of President Kennedy, he brought Frank Sturgis to the DRE offices in Miami, where he talked with Angel Hernandez Rojo.

A CIA report in March, 1964, described Angel Hernandez Rojo as being "chief of commando operations for the DRE". At that time, AMPALM-2 (Laureano Batista) of the MDC and Hernandez Rojo of the DRE "agreed to try to maintain guerrilla bands and organize the Cuban underground, with the MDC and the DRE cooperating under a single command."

Hernandez Rojo also represented the DRE in a meeting in 1964 between the DRE and the MDC. However, after the resignation of Luis Fernandez Rocha (AMHINT-53), Hernandez resigned from the DRE, and later joined the MDC.

A FBI report stated that "on 10/5/64, Henrietta Lori, CIA Covert, advised Hernandez was a boat pilot of operational interest to CIA."

A CIA memo in July, 1970, stated that Angel Hernandez Rojo was recruited on March 23, 1964, and was terminated (at his own request) on April 30, 1965. In December, 1965, Hernandez, a former Cuban pilot, was reemployed as a pilot in the WITHRUSH program. Hernandez was terminated after an accident in the Congo in early 1966.
