Previous reporting code name 'Mike' actually 'Dimple' born Camaguey 13 October 1903, retired diplomat and personal friend ambassador (of) Costa Rica often enters (and) leaves embassy with medium sized packages."
A cable on May 19, 1961, stated that "AMCOOP-1 contact with Cuban intel net began approximately nine months ago. He approached by woman known only to him as 'Nellie', who in turn put him in contact with 'Eugenio'. Latter then asked AMCOOP-1 if he had any close friends among Havana foreign diplomatic community. AMCOOP-1 replied that REDACTED ambassador good personal friend. Ensuing utilization this relationship resulted creation of AMDOODLE-1 courier system, in which AMCOOP-1 served as cutout between 'Eugenio' (marginalia: AMIRE-1) and AMDOODLE-1. AMCOOP-1 only knows Eugenio and Henry by their war names. He has also heard of but has never personally met 'Happy'. In addition to cutout function, AMCOOP-1 had also harbored operational types at his home at Eugenio's request."

5/22/61 cable from JMWAVE to BELL: "AMCOOP-1 recontacted...he provided following additional info items: AMCOOP-1 met on 17 April with MRR underground leader known only to him as 'Rene'. Latter told A-1 that all underground groups had been ordered remain quiet and not do anything until receiving further orders. A-1 also said that 18 April talk with young student named Santamaria (FNU), who served as MRR courier, had confirmed that underground groups had been ordered to remain temporarily inactive. According A-1, neither Rene or Santamaria had specified when or where order came from or whether or not it was a joint message...In addition to Rene, whom he believed to be a former part time law instructor at Villanueva University, A-1 said that the only other underground leader that he met was a man named 'Raul', who he described as the man in charge of the MRP organization following Manolo Ray's departure from Cuba."
