A cable from Miami on May 20, 1960, stated that "Villanello instructed by AMCLATTER-1 discontinue sending messages to A-5 but Villanello says channel available for use any time." The Villanello channel to AMCLATTER-5 was through two Cubana employees, Jose Palma in Miami, and Jorge Diaz at Marti Airport.
According to a dispatch from JMWAVE on May 22, 1961, AMCLATTER-5 was among the agents that WAVE/KUDESK (CIA Station in Miami/Counter Intelligence - CI - division of CIA) planned to continue to support and direct. They planned to use AMCLATTER-5 in "military matters independently and/or AMBUD (Cuban Revolutionary Council - CRC) in the WAVE area."
A cable on May 28, 1961, stated that on May 24th AMCLATTER-5 was elected Chief of Fuerzas Aereas de Liberacion Ofal (Cuban Airforce of Liberation in Exile), in Pilots Association meeting.
A memo in January of 1962 from Charles B. Wiesinger (Rene Dubois), Chief, CI, mentioned that Wiesinger was in contact with AMCLATTER-5. Also, AMCLATTER-5 was mentioned in two cables in December of 1963.

On 5 March A-5 delivered to Zamka (David Morales), his case officer, typewritten memo which he said personally drafted by AMHAWK for delivery to A-5's ODACID (U.S. State Department) contact. Memo outlines AMHAWK's views concerning (A) political aims which should be subscribed to by coalition of opposition forces and (B) practical measures he feels must be implemented if program is to be achieved. 2. Proposed political platform includes following seven points: A. Immediate return to regime of laws once Castro overthrown. B. Restoration of constitution of 1940. C. Elections in shortest possible time. D. Guarantees for free enterprise under state coordination. E. Full guarantees for private property and private investments. F. Incorporation of present agrarian reform into the constitution. G. Alignment of Cuba with democratic nations in international field and in struggle against Communism under leadership of the United States..."
04/23/60: Cable from Havana to Director: JMARC: "1. AMCLATTER-5 reported he received letter from SUBJ of ref who told him he had been approached by agent in Miami to 'join their group.' SUBJ of ref said he had not seen or heard from AMCLATTER-1 (Bernard Leon Barker) and wanted first check with A-5 re same agent approach and whether or not to accept. 2. View of arrangement set up in ref, Station believes A-1 could contact SUBJ of ref and tell him accept same agent offer."
05/20/60, Cable from Miami to Director: "1. Villanello channel to AMCLATTER-5 was thru two Cubana employees, Jose Palma in Miami and Jorge Diaz at Marti Airport. Requisite for use of channel was certainty they both on duty their respective ends on day and at time flight arrival on which given message sent. Personnel on aircraft who actually carried messages unknown to Villanello. 2. 05/28/61, Cable from JMWAVE to BELL: JMZIP: "1. AMCLATTER-5 elected Chief Fuerzas Aereas de Liberacion Ofal, Cuban Airforce of Liberation in Exile) in Pilots Association meeting 24 May. 2. AMFACET-1 (Umberto Figueres Gonzalez) as well as A-5 reported FAL in contact with Colonel Severs and Major Von Horn former Airatt and Assistant Airatt Habana. A-5 said latter two unofficially offered supply FAL with airntraining manuals. Although locally rumored to the contrary, no offer of financial aid made or mentioned between FAL and Severs and Van Horn. This confirmed by AMOT-87 (Mercedes Maria de los Angeles Meana Comdina) who has close ties FAL. Airatts mostly interested morale, activities and local situation pilots, including status Pedro Diaz Lanz. 3. A-5 said FAL will stay out of politics and will not make public statements against AMBUD (Cuban Revolutionary Council - CRC) although latter matter was nevertheless discussed in last meeting. FAL favors Marquez Sterling over AMBUD-1 (Jose Miro Cardona) and agreed will not repeat not take orders from AMNIP-1 (Miguel Roche Monroy). They interested maintain unity and support any recognized civilian group as leaders revolution. They willing recognize AMBUD as a body but not follow any one individual. 4. On night 27 May A-5 advised AMDIP-1 (Tony Varona) had asked him to meet with him. Following are results this meeting as reported by A-5: A-1 questioned A-5 over rumors that pilots planned set up group independent of AMBUD. A-5 denied this and explained FAL organization to AMDIP-1. Also gave names of officers this far elected. Only agreement reached with AMDIP-1 was that A-5 could submit list of FAL officers to AMBUD for confirmation after AMBUD-1's return from Washington, D.C. 5. AMDIP-1's also told A-5 that AMBUD-1 had met with President Kennedy afternoon 27 May and that President had promised AMBUD-1 full support. 6. Total membership FAL is 133 pilots."
