8/19/61 Memorandum for the Record by Latin American Division in th 1970s, by AMPAL-1: Describes AMBRUSH as the CRC's "security and counter-intelligence team". States that "(Captain) Ernesto Despain, head of the Frente Intelligence Service at 174 14th Lane, Miami...strongly suspected of giving everything of intelligence to Castro...as far as we are concerned he is a Castro penetration agent into Frente and US activities. The above is the result of being sent to see Dr. Jose Julio Fernandez head of intelligence service of the Frente (as told us by former Cuban general Socallanes, friend of Frank (Arias))." 104-10065-10155: INFORMATION ON JULIO FERNANDEZ MOLINO AND OTHERS
These notes identify his crypt as AMOT-99, date of birth 5/10/35, and bio file as 201-299222. "He was employed by the Intelligence and Security Commission of the FRD (AMIRON/AMBRUSH) for about two months in 1961. He was brought into it by Julio Pascual Abril. He stated in a letter to Hernan Henriquez Lorca, anti-Castro Cuban in Madrid who informed the FBI (who told us in memo dated 2 November 1961) that he 'was about to take a trip to Cuba to take material to anti-Castro elements, trip being financed by CIA.' He received POA 10 May 1961 for use as member of AMOT Admin Staff. File does not say who dropped from it, but when last contacted was working for Dixie Lily Products Company (a wholesale grocery outfit) as an accountant at $50 weekly in December 1961. POA cancelled 24 July 1962."

8/3/62: A report that "a small group of Cuban exiles living in Panama were planning to assassinate highest Cuban official attending 9th Central American games in Kingston and hoped that it would be Fidel Castro. Plotters were reported to be Rene Marsella Garaboto, Conrado Rodriguez Sanchez, Eulogio Lopez, Antonlin Sanchez Govin and Jose Julio Fernandez. Garoboto planned to leave Panama 3 August 1962 to present plan to Antonio Varona, ranking member of CRC/AMBUD..."
