July 1962 AMSPELL Progress Report, from C/PW to A/COS, JMWAVE, et al.: "The first open clash within (DRE) occurred in Lima, Peru. Here, Corredera (AMBARB-22) is accused of more response to (CIA) than loyalty to (DRE). The second occurred in the Helsinki delegation, when the new rightist faction prepared instructions for Evelio LEY and AMHINT-2 to give (CIA) an ultimatum: They would recall Corredera from Peru or the (DRE) would not send a delegation to Helsinki...Evelio is AMBARB coordinator."

02/14/63, cable from Director to JMWAVE: "1. Wish to know if AMBARB/22 fully resolved financial and property accounts. 2. Reason for query is that A/22 contacted wife's home state representative who in turn arranged interview with CIA. AMBARB/22 actually seeking CIA employment. Please comment on integrity and performance. SAS/Comment: Advised that prior to AMBARB/22's wife's leaving Lima, she took with her a typewriter and camera which belonged to DRE."
