Re 1961: 1/14/63 cable from Chief, JMWAVE to Chief, Task Force W: "Jorge Nobregas Heria, aka Coco, has been known by AMCONCERT-1 since the end of 1957 when they met in Miami where they were both in exile. Jorge was a friend and confidant of Jose A. Aleman, Jr. (son of the ex-Minister) who introduced AMCONCERT-1 to Jorge. After the downfall of Batista, when practically all Cuban exiles had returned to Cuba in early 1959, AMCONCERT-1 heard that Jorge was involved in stealing jewelry belonging to Cecilia Fernandez Miranda (sister of Batista's wife)...Jorge was arrested and put in La Cabanas prison. Jose Altman, Jr. made arrangements through Jose Llanusa Gobel to have Jorge released...(in early 1961) Jorge was in Varadero and had good contacts to enter and leave Cuba by boat near the Varadero area. When the AMRYE-1 net was setting up an exfiltration point, AMCONCERT-1 visited Jorge, who presented AMCONCERT-1 to Domingo Beltard, aka Cuco. AMCONCERT-1 saw that Cuco had contacts with fishermen in the area, especially the Nunez brothers (Alicio, Angel and Jose). AMCONCERT-1 was introduced to Alicio Nunez. In March 1961, AMCONCERT-1 introduced Peter di Gerveno to Jorge. Di Gerveno and Jorge made arrangements to place a radio (RS-6) on a farm near the coast of Cardenas. It was later learned that Jorge was involved with persons of the (DRE) who used this farm. The radio was later discovered by the GOC security forces and the owner of the farm imprisoned. AMCONCERT-1 broke off contact with Jorge at this time. After the invasion, Sloman instructed AMCONCERT-1 to see Jorge and set up the exfiltration of Henry J. Sloman and AMPARCH-1. This was done in June 1961.
