Michael Goleniewski a.k.a. 'SNIPER', 'LAVINIA', (16 August 1922 – 12 July 1993), was a Polish officer in the People's Republic of Poland's Mhttps://www.maryferrell.org/php/crypsuedit.php?type=crypt&id=AEVISION#inistry of Public Security, the deputy head of military counterintelligence GZI WP, later head of the technical and scientific section of the Polish intelligence, and a spy for the Soviet government during the 1950s. In 1959, he became a triple-agent, giving Polish and Soviet secrets to the Central Intelligence Agency, which directly caused the exposure of George Blake and Harry Houghton. Goleniewski defected to the United States in 1961. He later claimed to be Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich of Russia.

Alexei Nikolaevich (Russian: Алексе́й Никола́евич) (12 August 1904 [O.S. 30 July] – 17 July 1918) of the House of Romanov, was the last Tsesarevich[note 1] and heir apparent to the throne of the Russian Empire. He was the youngest child and only son of Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna..In 2000, Alexei and his family were canonized as passion bearers by the Russian Orthodox Church. The family had previously been canonized in 1981 by the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad as holy martyrs. The bodies of Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarina Alexandra, and three of their daughters were finally interred at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg on 17 July 1998—eighty years after they were executed. Alexei's remains, so as to be with those of his family, remain unburied due to the insistence of the Russian Orthodox Church on more DNA-testing.

1965: The document reveals Goleniewski was a defector and former Polish Secret Service officer that purported to be the son of the Czar Nicholas Romanov deposed by the Communist Revolution and heir four hundred million dollars within European bank accounts. He was able to convince CIA employee Herman Kimsey of this improbable tale and subsequently made his allegations later known to the press.

1966: A document from the Security File of Herman Kimsey presents that he was contacting the Agency regarding problems Goleniewski was having with his present Agency contact. Officials in the Office of Security preferred to inform Kimsey of any decision rendered.

1973:The document is a less redacted version of a prior release that features (https://www.maryferrell.org/showDoc.html?docId=16292&relPageId=2) a list of compiled defectors the Secret Service was given by the CIA for surveillance operations during the visit of Russian Premier Leonid Brezhnev in the 1970s. Various Agency departments including the Domestic Contacts Service, Counterintelligence Staff, and the Psychiatric Staff recommended selected defectors for inclusion. It states that AEVISION is Michael Goleniewski. "He is a real nut who aspires to the Romanoff crown. Notify the Secret Service."
