Other Audio in the HSCA Collection

The HSCA also collected some recordings from private individuals and law enforcement agencies. Among these is the recording of right-wing extremist Joseph Milteer, taped on 9 Nov 1963 telling an informant that a plan to kill Kennedy was "in the working" and would involve rifle fire from an office building.

transcript
(transcript starts about 4 minutes into recording)
On 9 Nov 1963 Miami police informant William Somersett taped a conversation with right-wing extremist Joseph Milteer. That conversation turned to the assassination of President Kennedy, with Milteer describing the job as "in the working" and that it could be accomplished "from an office building with a high-powered rifle." Milteer also predicted that "they will pick up somebody within hours afterwards, if anything like that would happen just to throw the public off." The Secret Service was duly notified, but after Kennedy's murder the Warren Commission did not receive the tape or transcript or any indication that Milteer had expressed possible foreknowledge of the assassination.
