Nosenko Interrogations: 1964

Recordings of roughly 30 hours of interviews of Soviet defector Yuri Nosenko, conducted by CIA and FBI from January through July 1964. Nosenko told US intelligence officers about his knowledge of Lee Harvey Oswald, and became the subject of intense controversy regarding his "bona fides." He was imprisoned by the CIA in 1964, subject to harsh treatment, and not released until 1969.

Initial interrogations in late Jaunary 1964 were conducted by CIA personnel; FBI interviews with Nosenko were conducted in late February. A third set of recordings from July has been released.

Note that the reel numbers indicate that a great many recordings were made which are not part of this declassified set. Possibly these were on topics other than Oswald and thus considered "not believed relevant," though this is speculation at this point.

These recordings were declassified in July 2017.
