Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed 45 years ago this April 4. In this original and thoughtful essay, Charles Faulkner presents new evidence tying alleged assassin James Earl Ray to the White Supremacy movement. Some of the evidence presented here required original research; some, as the author notes, was "concealed for years in plain sight."
Faulkner's essay, which builds on the work of Stuart Wexler and Larry Hancock in their book The Awful Grace of God, includes a reminder of the possibility that more relevant information remains locked in the still-classified files of the House Select Committee on Assassinations. The JFK Records Act which twenty years ago initiated the release of that body's JFK files did nothing about the "MLK side" of that investigation.
