The Warren Commission as far as I know didn't ask about the missing parts of CE-399. But in the Clay Shaw Trial, FBI agent Robert Frazier was asked whether parts of CE-399 were missing when he received it, and replied "There very easily could have been. I couldn't say how much". When asked if he removed any parts or scrapings, he replied "Yes, there were both particles of copper and lead base removed for a spectrographic analysis". The Weisberg spectro lawsuit may have more on this, but I can't find it at the moment. For the Clay Shaw trial testimony, see the footnote (1)
